Are You Ready to Grow?

Scholarship Available to Aspiring Central Jersey Entrepreneurs

The Business Women’s Charitable Foundation (BWCF), an organization made up of women business owners in Hunterdon County, has formed a scholarship program designed to provide financial support for women who have a dream of becoming a business owner, but do not have the means to get started.

The scholarship award is to be applied to opening a business and becoming an entrepreneur for the first time. The fund will help each recipient to bring their life experience, passion, creativity and business management skills together to make their dream of business ownership a reality.

Along with the scholarship money, members of the Business Women’s Charitable Foundation will provide the award recipients consulting services ranging from business coaching, marketing and public relations support.

To be eligible for the scholarship:

  • Your business must be a first self employment venture;
  • The business must be independently owned and operated by a woman;
  • The candidate must fall into moderate to low income status;
  • The candidate must be underemployed or unemployed.

  • Jill Davis’ business concept includes providing homeowners facing foreclosures on their homes an alternative to foreclosure and negatively affecting their credit. Amazing House Help, LLC will buy homes, and then find new buyers, therefore preserving homeowner’s credit allowing them a fresh new start.
  • Teresa Eggers’ is bringing her passion and 12 years experience in real estate to her new business – New Creation Home Staging. Teresa will stage scenes throughout a home to create immediate buyer interest in the property and get the highest possible price for their home.

2008 Recipients of BWCF Scholarship

Two Hunterdon County women receive $1000.00 each.

  • Dana Lane’s aspirations include owning her own photography business. Dana dreams of becoming a freelance photographer – photographing events, bands, portraits, families, children, animals, stock photography and sports capitalizing on her photojournalism background.   • Deborah Lavine has been building an impressive inventory of fashionable hand knit hats for men, women and children. She plans to market them through local craft festivals and local specialty boutiques, she is also creating an online website targeting the global community of hat wearers.
